Long before we spoke of conservation, biodiversity or regenerative tourism, there was a simple gesture repeated every day.

To care.

Over the decades, Carmelita Zanchet cultivated fruit trees, native species and flowers that transformed the surroundings of the house into a living garden.

There was no landscape design project. There was attention, delicacy and care.

And it is precisely this care that still helps keep Jardim da Amazônia surrounded by birds.

Today, more than 590 bird species are recorded on eBird, and the territory is recognized as an IBA — Important Bird and Biodiversity Area — by BirdLife International, reinforcing its importance for bird conservation.

Among the most delicate visitors are hummingbirds, drawn by the diversity of flowers and the presence of species that provide food throughout the year. Each bloom has its own time, creating a continuous cycle that also benefits butterflies, pollinating insects and countless other forms of life.

For those who would like to bring a little of this experience home, the advice is simple: prioritize native species and nectar-rich flowers. Small gardens can also become places of shelter, food and passage for birds.

At Jardim da Amazônia, we have learned that legacy is not only what we build, but above all what we choose to care for.

This care, repeated over the years, helped create an environment where birds, pollinators and native species continue to find room to remain.

More than a garden, it is part of the history of this place.

To care, so that life may remain.
