On the morning of July 17, a figure crossed one of Jardim’s camera traps. It lasted only a few seconds, but there was something familiar in the silhouette: the low body, the full tail, the small ears.
The identification has been confirmed: it is a short-eared dog, Atelocynus microtis. Careful attention is what turns an impression into a record.
Some encounters ask for time
The animal appears and disappears before the camera can tell the whole story. Where did it come from? How long has it crossed this stretch? Will it pass by again?
For now, we have the image, the date and the attention of the person who was looking. The rest needs to be discovered slowly.
